Early Childhood Teacher / Educational Leader - Newcastle West

Employment Type: Full Time

St Nicholas Early Education at Newcastle West currently has a vacancy for a temporary full time Early Childhood Teacher / Educational Leader (Parental leave relief).

As the Educational Leader, you will be a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. You will be expected to lead the development and implementation of the Educational curriculum at St Nicholas.

This challenging role includes:

  • A thorough understanding of the EYLF, educational theory, children development and adult learning;
  • A passion and energy for pedagogy teaching and learning;
  • Developing strong relationships with children at St Nicholas;
  • Developing strong relationships that support and partner with families;
  • Implementing the policies and associated procedures of St Nicholas Early Education at all times; and
  • Working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of St Nicholas Early Education operations.

Among many other responsibilities, you will be required to:

  • Manage the quality of the educational program and its implementation on a daily basis
  • Review current programs of learning and documentation at St Nicholas;
  • Consult and collaborate with the team of educators to develop and confirm approaches to learning programs and documentation;
  • Assist with documentation and encourage analysis and an understanding of children’s learning and development through this documentation;
  • Lead and participate in reflective discussions on practice and the implementation of considerations relating to inclusion and the community of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse families;
  • Mentor and teach educators though observation, guided discussions and recommendations for professional development.

You will be an active member of the team, with a passion for providing high quality care and education to children.  You will have the ability to develop relationships with children and families, assist in the implementation of policy and process of St Nicholas, and work with other staff to continuously improve the operations of St Nicholas.  St Nicholas Early Education adopts a best practise ethos in care and education, to ensure it has a positive reputation in the community of Newcastle.
